Join us for a day-long workshop exploring the foundations of growing your own outdoor, low impact mushrooms!
Learn all the steps needed to learn to grow your own mushrooms at home, in your allotment or as part of a start-up or small commercial enterprise .
If you’ve attended our recent inoculation sessions you’ll know that log growing is an ancient technique that began in China. Here at 42 Acres , we have been growing mushrooms in this way for four years and are keen to share what we are learning. Not just the techniques but how mushrooms are key to supporting the cycles of life.
After this fun and educational workshop you'll take home all the skills you need to start growing your own mushrooms, plus have access to our in-house resources so you can create your own bespoke set up.
What to expect:
This workshop focuses on the outdoor techniques of mushroom growing as these methods produce the most nutrient dense, sustainable and low impact mushrooms possible.
We will teach both bed growing and log growing to produce a range of different mushrooms which include wine caps, shiitake, turkey tail, lions mane and oysters.
This workshop includes a tasty lunch from our 42 Mile Menu - a wholesome mushroom and biodynamic vegetable broth bowl with wild greens and nourishing sweet treats. Wild teas will be provided throughout the session.
Our session will open with a guided meditation and a check-in, in the spirit of our vision to help ourselves attune to living in harmony with nature. We believe that connecting in this way encourages deeper connection and mindful working practices, for both us and the land.
Tasha is our head of land and food and is part of the vision circle alongside 42 Acres founders. She has lived off-grid for 13 years, accruing skills in fossil fuel free farming, expertise in foraging and 'bee-centric' beekeeping. Tasha is a practicing Buddhist and intuitive, and supports 42 in the quest to continuing alignment and deepening towards the vision of connection to nature, self and other.
