Join us in our organic, no-till market garden and get your hands dirty! We'll share our regenerative growing practices aimed at restoring the ecosystems contained in living soil. In fact, our Growing Team describe their role as growing soil not produce - because healthy soil leads to healthy food, healthy people and a healthy planet.
Ultimately, everything comes from the soil and returns to it. The saying “dirt is inert, soil is alive” is true - healthy soil is a complex, dynamic structure teeming with a vast array of life. One handful contains more organisms than there are people on Earth.
Today, we'll take soil samples and carry out experiments to assess their health. We'll expand our knowledge about the wonders beneath our feet and we'll leave with tools and and practices to support us to create and maintain rich, dark, living soil in our own gardens.
This experience is exclusive and complimentary to guests staying with us on a Self-Guided Retreat Package. There is no need to book. Our Lead Grower, David will meet you in the dining room at the Hermitage.
David is the Head Grower at 42 Acres produce garden, having worked in fruit and veg production for many years. He studied ecology at Uni and is passionate about soil health. He ultimately moved into farming where he felt he could make the most difference. Dave loves sharing his knowledge and experience so come find him in the produce garden.
