Retreat & Events Lead

Due to the nature of hospitality, we are open 7 days per week including holidays so workdays will be flexible according to rotas between 7am – 10pm, Monday to Sunday
Address: 42 Acres is a remote location with no public transport to the venue. It is best accessed by car or bike. The operational location address is:  42 Acres Ltd, Gibbons Farm, Holt Road, Witham Friary, Frome, Somerset, BA11 5HL
Start date: ASAP
Employment type: Fixed Term for 6 months, minimum of 3 days/24 hours per week, maximum of 40 hours per week.  Monday to Sunday, includes regular evening & weekend work

Reports to: Retreat & Events Lead

Collaborates with: Operations Team, Kitchen, House and wider 42 Acres team

Role Purpose:  You will be part of the operations team working to deliver an amazing guest experience to all of our guests and visitors at 42 Acres. You will combine your knowledge of hospitality, events and running retreats to support us in making sure our guests have a wonderfully memorable experience.  

The Opportunity: Working collaboratively as part of the 42 Acres team to deliver  amazing guest experiences. You will support the Bookings Manager and Retreat & Events Lead to ensure the requirements for each retreat and booking are met – working to exceed expectations at all times.  Together with the team, you’ll make sure everyone is looked after and feels at home and that guests value the role that you play in their life changing experiences. 

About the Role (Key Accountabilities):

This is a hands on role and requires the ability to be flexible and in service to the wider ecosystem of 42 Acres.  In reality this means this role covers anything from pot washing, housekeeping, setting up guest spaces and holding welcome talks with our guests.  This fluid way of working helps to foster a deeper connection to our vision and supports one another to deliver an unforgettable guest experience.  You will therefore need to be a strong communicator who can put your hand to a number of different tasks with strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask with ease.

  • the main support for retreats with regular evening and weekend shifts 
  • a point of contact for facilitators and guests when they are onsite
  • holding the duty phone on a rota basis and responding to calls/queries as required
  • managing arrivals and supporting facilitators with rooming as required 
  • ensuring the successful delivery of retreats
  • creating and maintaining the relaxed and homely atmosphere guests have come to love
  • holding the welcome talk as required and welcoming guests for 42 Acres retreats
  • liaising with  facilitators and team members to ensure the smooth delivery of guest services
  • working to maintain our positive environmental impact
  • working closely with the house team ensuring that all relevant areas are properly set up for each retreat and guest arrival
  • ensuring that communal areas are kept clean and tidy at all times – regular cleaning of communal toilets, dining area and shared spaces as required.
  • room changeovers as required
  • ensure that the dining area is always welcoming and refreshed – maintaining the tea and coffee station
  • pot washing / clearing dishes etc as required
  • overnight stays may be requested as part of this role with mutual agreement

  • previous experience in the hospitality/retreat sector (essential)
  • experience in a similar role (essential)

  • Customer service experience (essential)
  • Practical, hands on and willingness to jump in and help where necessary (essential)
  • Excellent attention to detail (essential)
  • Computer literate (desirable)
  • Proficient with G-Suite, Microsoft Office, Hospitality & Booking Management Systems (desirable)
  • The ability to work flexible hours / days and weekends (essential)
  • The legal right to work in the UK (essential)
  • An excellent command of written and spoken English (essential)
  • Ability to travel to work in a remote rural location (essential)
