Self-guided retreats are fully catered with wholesome food organically-grown & wild-foraged on this land, freshly prepared by our retreat chefs to nourish you from the inside out. They also include daily transformational experiences influenced and inspired by the divine wisdom of nature. Plus, thoughtful touches - art supplies, yoga mats, swim towels and meditation tracks birthed from this land. Our experienced retreat hosts will support you to create a schedule bespoke to you - whether you’re seeking transformational experiences or to simply rest and restore in nature.

Our 13th-century Hermitage has long been a sacred space. It’s been consciously restored using sustainable, locally sourced, natural materials and sympathetic methods, and is powered 100% by renewable energy. Inside you’ll find understated luxury and timeless simplicity. Real fires, natural light, soft touches and far-reaching views down to our 7-acre lake. The result is a cosy, nurturing sanctuary that offers peace, and calm.

Meals are served in the beautifully light dining room. Please feel free to join other guests at the long, living-edge table - designed to inspire conversation & connection. Or, to dine separately at either inside or on the lawn. If you are staying for more than 1 night, lunch will also be included - you are welcome to eat inside, or ask for a blanket and picnic in your favourite spot on the land. Unlimited tea and coffee are available 24/7 in the dining room.

You're welcome to use the spacious group room and cosy snug with real fires and expansive views across our regenerative estate and down to the lake.

Tiny Boat

'Tiny Boat' is small but perfectly formed, sleeping two with serene bedside views of water and wildlife.

Tucked away at a private mooring on our 7-acre lake. The setting is quite extraordinary - this lake is home to once-thought-extinct beavers, otters and more...If you're lucky you could wake up to a flash of turquoise from our resident kingfishers or the sound of woodpeckers in the nearby woods.

Inside is a small kitchen and space to unwind. Outside is your private compost loo & shower, and a beautifully-located, private, lakeside deck area - which is especially wonderful at dawn and dusk. To the front of the boat is your private fire pit.

The lake is suitable for wild swimming and your private deck includes a ladder into the lake. You're also very welcome to take out our rowing boat or paddle board.

Back on land, you're also welcome to explore our 173 acres of wild spaces, including ancient woodland, rewilded meadows, edible hedges, a lake suitable for wild swimming & an abundance of wildlife. It's the perfect place to reconnect with nature.

Two Things to Bear in Mind About Tiny Boat!

1)  Tiny Boat really is named for her tiny-ness. She is beautiful and unique and cosy and wonderful and a favourite of returning guests. But, she might not be the best choice if you are tall or claustrophobic.

2) You'll find yourself very close to the elements. This makes for a really immersive nature experience. But, severe weather will impact your stay.  If you've made a booking and the weather takes a turn for the worse, pls feel free to get in touch - we may be able to reschedule your stay or move you to one of our beautiful buildings.

We do not allow pets at Tiny Boat because of the proximity to our beaver family. But we do welcome one well-behaved dog at Library Barn.
