“42 Acres is a retreat destination of dreams. The team are living and creating a shared vision – to provide a deeply special space where people can reconnect to nature, their breath and hearts.
From the exceptional food, the beautiful rooms, the incredible attention to detail, the attentive and kind staff who went out of their way, to the grounds, the woodland, the animals… what is not to like? This is a truly special place.
I have run many retreats and this location topped any other by far. It is a place of magic and all of my guests were blown away. ”

We aim to offer and unforgettable, magical experience

We’re here to support you to create a magical experience for your guests. Our team tread gently, and our intention is for you to feel held in a loving embrace. Our “whole self service” approach goes beyond the transactional and invites us to embrace personal responsibility for our own well-being as well as caring for each other.

Please feel free to make yourself at home. You’ll find high quality fixtures and fittings including luxurious linens, fluffy towels and local, organic toiletries. Meals are served at long tables to inspire thoughtful conversations and deepen relationships. Help yourselves to drinks, and feel free to use the items they’ll find around – from books, to SUP boards and wellies.

You’re welcome to explore the wild spaces, ancient woodland and 11-acre lake that we share with our more-than-human kin.
Take a stroll through our edimental walled garden, visit our rewilding projects, or discover our magical tree house. Enjoy wild swimming from our jetty or explore our lake with canoes and stand-up paddle boards.
We host a range of beautiful accommodation options – sleeping up to a maximum of 30 guests single occupancy (more with sharing) across 8 buildings, in 2 retreat centres, on 173 acres of wild landscapes.

Our beautiful accommodation ranges from simple cottages to luxurious barn conversions, from a lake-side barge to spacious bell tents. Our philosophy of “elegant simplicity” is woven throughout.

All our spaces are consciously restored and furnished. We use sustainable, locally-sourced, natural materials and sympathetic methods that both conserve and enhance. 100% of our heat and electricity is from renewable energy.

The result is cosy, nurturing sanctuaries that offer peace, calm and quiet. There’s 30 quietly-luxurious bedrooms across the site. We provide luxurious linens, fluffy towels and local-eco friendly toiletries. Plus soft touches to enrich your stay.

“In a decade of teaching retreats I think I have settled on 42 acres being my favourite space. Just the right blend of wholesome earthiness and luxury. My guests loved the entire experience and as the teacher I felt fully supported by the team during my entire stay that I was able to relax and enjoy my own retreat far more than I ever have before. I would recommend 42 acres with absolute confidence. Thank you to all involved!”
Jamie Holder, Retreat Host

“There is no place quite like it. The land is magical, so wild and freeing. It delivers calm and comforting rest alongside the energetic, wild, and untamed spirit that stirs something ancient within you. A place where the soul can breathe, expand, and remember.”
Chris Geisler, Retreat Host, Men of Earth

The food we serve is simple, hyper-local and nutrient-dense – a final expression of our land, lovingly tended and created by our land and food teams. We are inspired by permaculture and are organic in principle. Our in-house retreat chefs creatively include whatever the land is currently offering.

Our Land and Food practices demonstrate a way of eating that continues the traditions of the past and supports our shared future. We believe that as cultivate and restore the wellbeing of our planet Earth, we cultivate and restore the wellbeing within ourselves.

Our signature fire cook is an elemental, edible ritual shaped by food, fire and forest. It is utterly magical and deeply connective. Gather in the oak forest glade. Eat outdoors, shoulder-to-shoulder around a fire, just as our ancestors once did. Awaken something primal!
