Come and spend a few hours in nature doing something that matters. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to get stuck in and try something new.42 Acres has been a rewilding nature reserve for over a decade and is species-rich. Join us to connect with the natural world through hands-on activities from wildlife surveying, to tending habitats, and slowing down with nature watching and photography.
Wild Guardians meet on the last Sunday of each month, from 10am-2pm. Each meeting is divided into two parts.
Session One
We split into smaller groups for focussed, practical conservation activities, habitat management, wildlife surveying and ecological data collection.
Session Two
A more relaxed time to wild swim, canoe, wander, birdwatch, photograph, contribute observations to our iNaturalist project, or help build our growing site herbarium. At 1pm we’ll gather to share a simple seasonal lunch, provided by 42 Acres.

Good To Know:
- We are a group of enthusiastic amateurs. And our beloved ecologist Robyn of @nestandnettleecology.
- A simple, seasonal lunch is provided
- Please arrive at The Hermitage car park at 9:45am for a prompt 10am start
- Please arrive quietly, mindful that people may be on retreat in The Hermitage
- Please download the iNaturalist app in advance
- Open to everyone aged 12 and over
- Bring secateurs if you have them
- Wear clothing suitable for the weather and for working among brambles, nettles and uneven ground
- If you have mobility requirements, please let us know before booking. We’ll do our best to accommodate you.
- Please only book if you’re able to attend the full session.
- If you can no longer attend, please let us know ASAP so we can offer your place to someone else.
- If severe weather prevents us from working outdoors, we’ll move inside for Plan B!
- If you have any medical conditions or are pregnant, please seek advice from your healthcare professional before attending.
- As much as we love four-legged friends, dogs are not permitted on this experience.
